Christchurch Super 440 Wrap Up
— April 20, 2026 | 2 min read
After a disrupted Taupō round, the focus for this weekend was on converting pace into performance and both Cameron Waters and Thomas Randle showed positive signs throughout. This weekend also marked Randle’s 150th Supercars Race.
WATERS: IN THE FIGHT
Cameron Waters was consistently in the mix across the weekend, showing strong qualifying speed and lining up inside the top 10 for key sessions.
A less than ideal start in the final race, saw him starting from pit lane but to his credit, he recovered well and moved up the grid to finish with a solid 5th position.
RANDLE: CONSISTENT GAINS
Thomas Randle continued to build momentum, working through a competitive midfield and gaining ground across the races.
Randle wasn’t free from his own drama in the final race either. He had been able to gain a position off the start and through the first few corners until he was caught up in an incident involving multiple cars, which resulted in him reporting that he’d been hit from behind.
Coverage showed that he had sustained significant damage to the front and rear of the vehicle, but managed to continue racing, finishing in 19th position.
A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
With the cars and the team all packed up and making their way home, there is plenty to be reviewed and analysed on their return so they can continue to deliver a strong racing performance throughout the rest of the season.
We’re all looking forward to the next round in Tasmania!
