Narva Joins ‘Desert MAN Can’ Charity Expedition
— June 30, 2017 | 2 min read
Narva continues to put its recently-released Ultima 215 L.E.D lights to the test in Australia’s toughest conditions, this time combining a demanding real world evaluation with a very worthy cause, the ‘Desert MAN Can’ initiative.
The ‘Desert MAN Can’ expedition will see two cyclists on mountain bikes crossing the Simpson Desert via the French Line. Along the way, funds will be raised for the Beyond Blue Foundation, a leading not-for-profit charity providing support for Australians with depression, anxiety and related conditions.
The Simpson crossing will be undertaken by Callie Le Roux from MAN Trucks Australia and Stewart Boswerger from SLRV Expedition Vehicles, with the duo setting off on Monday 7 August for the week long ride. In the lead-up to the event, Callie and Stewart will also be dropping in to remote area schools to talk to students about their trip and to educate them about the work of Beyond Blue.
Supporting the duo is a team of helpers following in a four wheel drive vehicle along with a fully kitted MAN 4x4 truck featuring an SLRV expedition body. The journey will also be documented by a three person film crew.
The MAN support truck is equipped with four roof-mounted Ultima 215 L.E.D lamps courtesy of Narva; ensuring visibility in the outback is at its highest. These lamps offer the latest in L.E.D technology, delivering a pure white light output from 33 x 5W (165W) XP-G2 Cree L.E.Ds resulting an impressive 1 Lux of brightness at 900 metres per pair. Another performance-aiding feature of the lamp’s design is its highly polished, aluminium reflectors with precisely scalloped parabolas for superior light control and output.
Narva Marketing Manager, Jake Smith, said it was great to be able to continue Narva’s in-field evaluation of this signature lamp while supporting an important charity initiative.
“The MAN 4x4 support vehicle and SLRV Expedition Vehicles are decked out with a very impressive body fitout using the best accessories available and the two pair of new Ultima 215 L.E.D lamps fitted to the MAN’s roof-mounted bar is the cherry on the cake,” said Jake.
“For a number of weeks we’ve had our Ultima 215 L.E.Ds fitted to a number of high profile off-road vehicles that have been working hard across some of Australia’s toughest terrains, and the feedback from the off-roading fraternity has been overwhelmingly positive. We are delighted to be supporting the ‘Desert MAN Can’ initiative and both Callie and Stewart in their fundraising efforts for the Beyond Blue Foundation,” he said.
