Waters Leads Tickford Charge at Townsville 500

Tickford Racing enjoyed a strong weekend at the NTI Townsville 500, with Cameron Waters continuing his impressive form following Darwin and Thomas Randle delivering another consistent points-scoring performance around the challenging Reid Park Street Circuit.

Waters got the weekend off to the perfect start, qualifying on the front row before converting his pace into victory in Friday's opening race. Holding off relentless pressure throughout the closing laps, he claimed his third race win of the season and gave Tickford an early confidence boost heading into the remainder of the weekend.

The momentum continued on Saturday, with both Tickford Mustangs showing excellent speed. Randle impressed in qualifying to secure a second-row start, while Waters also featured in the Top Ten Shootout. The pair converted that pace into another strong result for the team, finishing fourth and fifth respectively to underline Tickford's competitiveness across the longer race format.

Sunday saw Waters once again demonstrate his qualifying speed by securing pole position before battling at the front throughout the 200km finale. Despite a slower second pit stop impacting his race strategy, Waters fought hard to secure third place, collecting his second podium of the weekend and valuable championship points.

For Randle, Townsville marked another encouraging step forward. His sixth-place finish on Friday, second-row qualifying effort on Saturday and consistent race pace throughout the weekend added another solid haul of championship points and reinforced the speed of the No. 55 Mustang.

With a race win, two podium finishes and consistent pace across all three races, Tickford Racing leaves Townsville with plenty of positives. Waters remains firmly in the championship fight, while Randle continues to build momentum as the team now turns its attention to the next round at Perth's Wanneroo Raceway later this month.
